- How do I become a licensed Florida real estate sales associate or broker?

- What education must I complete prior to becoming a licensed Florida real estate associate or broker?
To become a real estate sales associate, you must successfully complete a 63-hour course approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission. To become a real estate broker, you must successfully complete a 72-hour course approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission.
- What courses are approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission?

- If I fail the exam at the end of the course am I allowed to re-take it?
You can re-take the exam at least 30 days after the original exam date and no more than one-year after the initial exam. If you fail the exam twice, you have to take the course again.
- Does everyone have to complete the educational requirements prior to getting an initial real estate license?
No. Attorneys in good standing with the Florida Bar, people who have earned a four-year college degree in real estate, and applicants who qualify under the Mutual Recognition Agreement do not have to complete the educational requirements for sales associate and broker licenses.
- What is the Mutual Recognition Agreement?
The Mutual Recognition Agreement allows real estate associates in certain states to achieve Florida licensure through reciprocity.
- I just received my real estate license. What post licensure education should I complete to ensure my license remains active?
Sales associates must complete 45-hours and brokers must complete 60-hours of approved post licensure courses. A list of approved courses can be found online at www.MyFlorida.com/dbpr > Real Estate > RE Schools.
